Season, the Lakers Look to Reload - Summer Recruiting Mini-Camps
Announced
The Grand Valley State
University Men's Ice Hockey returned from Nationals as the bronze medal
winners, winning games against Colorado State, Connecticut and FGCU before
falling to a surprise Indiana team 3-1 in the finals. This placed the
Lakers as the #3 team in the nation, the best finish in the history of the
GVSU hockey program. In addition, the Lakers ended the successful
season with an amazing 31-8-2 record.
GVSU's efforts didn't go
unnoticed in the awards column either, as four different players won
national awards. Goaltender Grant Lyon was named 1st Team
All-American, while defensemen Greg Kehr was named to 1st Team All-Region.
Additionally, the Lakers were represented by Nate Morang and Kyle Gorka on
the All-Region 2nd Team. GVSU's four players were the most of any team
in the nation.
Coach Denny McLean is
extremely proud of Lakers and their incredible season and looks forward to a
great season next year as GVSU hosts the ACHA Division II National
Tournament next season.
Note: All-time statistics are updated with current year stats.

Lakers Take 3 out of
4 points from Ohio State
The
Grand
Valley
State University hockey team hosted GMHL rival
Ohio
State University this past weekend and were able to pull off a victory
Friday night and a tie on Saturday night.
In
Friday night’s contest, the Lakers found themselves down early as Ohio State
scored 2 goals in the first period of play. Again the Lakers still were
frustrated with putting the puck in the net as after two periods of play the
Lakers were still down by 2 goals. - Read
