This is an organization that works for human rights for sex workers. The name Flor de Piedra means flower of stone. There are four geographical zones in El Salvador that the organization works in. They provide classes for the workers about health care issues, their rights, and literacy classes. The organization has also worked with different clinics to provide free or low cost health care. One of their other goals is to educate the staff at the clinics on ways to treat the sex workers in a fair and non-judgmental manner. Many times the sex workers are treated in demeaning and inhumane ways.
Sex work in general is very dangerous work. The workers are often subjected to cruelty, customer’s refusal to pay, and emotional trauma.
