Since the Fall Semester
of 2004, the Student Reading Series has held three readings per semester
with three to four students reading at each event. Students may read
any combination of fiction, poetry, and/or nonfiction for 10-15 minutes
each, depending on the total number of readers scheduled for the event.
In the Winter 2005 semester SRS held a special reading for drama
writers, and in the Fall of 2005 SRS collaborated with the GVSU
Writer’s Club to dedicate a reading to Writer’s Club
members and to celebrate the club’s first publication of student
writing, Veil.
Although there are no qualifications for reading other than being
enrolled at GVSU, priority is given to Senior students and Writing
majors. All SRS readings are held on Grand Valley State University
Campus. In the 2004-2005 academic year, readings were held in the
Kirkhof Center. The 2005-2006 readings are being held in the Miejer
Center for Writing in Lake Ontario Hall.
If you are interested in reading, please email Liz Stinson at stinsone@student.gvsu.edu
or contact faculty member Ander Monson.
