About Me

I am an international student from Colombo, Sri Lanka. Currently, enrolled in the Master of Science in Accounting program at Grand Valley State University, expecting to graduate in December 2015. I received my Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Finance in December 2013.

My goal is to improve data analytic skills along with forensic and fraud investigation skills in order to work in Risk Assurance or Advisory practice in one of the Big Four public accounting firms.

I have successfully passed all four parts of the Certified Fraud Examiner Exam and waiting on completion of work experience to receive the CFE License.

In my spare time, I volunteer, watch movies, play basketball, travel and listen to music. In addition, I enjoy learning about new technology and digital photography.

Work Experience

Risk Assurance Intern - PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, Tampa (June 2015 - July 2015)

  • Perform analytic tests on journal entry data using ACL software
  • Assist internal control tests such as capital market pricing, loss mitigation and retention using TeamMate
  • Design business process flowcharts for a special project (ECAP)

Data Assurance Intern - PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, Detroit (January 2014 – March 2014)

  • Perform analytic tests on journal entry data using ACL software
  • Prepare deliverable for various clients using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
  • Assist core assurance team by improving the efficiency of audit process

Global Internal Audit IT Intern - Perrigo Company, Allegan (May 2014 – August 2014)

  • Assist IT SOX testing, SOD testing and change management using IDEA and TeamMate
  • Mitigate SAP (ERP Software) user controls and manage SAP roles

Currently, my schedule is pretty occupied with my graduate studies and work. However, I still have managed to allocate time to do the activities I like. Play basketball and pool are the main activities that I do most frequently. Apart from them, I love animals, especially dogs which motivated me to volunteer often at the Humane Society.

Music is likely the best companion in my life. It is a very effective motivator. Music has helped me to keep my head up and pass through numerous life obstacles. Travel

By being an international student, travelling has become a major part of my life. I have travelled to several states in the USA for educational conferences and trainings. I am planning to travel more often as soon as I get done with school.
