~Zeta Tau History~

"Each friend represents a world inside us,
a world not possibly born until they arrive,
and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born."
- Anais Nin

The Zeta Tau chapter was founded on Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan on March 27, 1999.  Zeta Tau began as a local sorority on campus called Alpha Beta Chi, which was founded on September 23, 1993.  During the month of October, 1998 Alpha Beta Chi brought in three national sororities to present themselves so that we could choose the right national sorority for us to affiliate with.  The three sororities we brought in were Gamma Phi Beta, Phi Mu and the best of them, Alpha Sigma Alpha.

Alpha Sigma Alpha was chosen because of their friendly attitudes and the enthusiasm that they had for their sorority.  The other collegians that came to present Alpha Sigma Alpha with the National Officers were very enthusiastic and made us feel as if we were part of their sorority before we had even made our decision.  We walked out of the presentation feeling overwhelmed and excited to become part of such a great organization.

Our colony process began on October 31, 1998 and we went through the Phoenix degree on November 1, 1998.  We worked as a colony on campus for a few months and were eventually initiated members after our installation on March 27, 1999.  It took a lot of hard work, but we are now proud members of Alpha Sigma Alpha and have never been stronger.
