Albania, officially Republic Of Albania, Albanian Shqipėria, or Republika e Shqipėrisė, country in the Balkan Peninsula, on its western Adriatic coast. Albania is about 210 miles (340 km) long from north to south and nearly 95 miles (153 km) across at its widest extent from east to west. It is bordered on the north and northeast by Montenegro and Kosova, on the east by Macedonia, and on the southeast by Greece; its western border consists of a rugged coastline along the Adriatic Sea. The capital is Tiranė. Area 28,748 square km. Population is aproximately 4 million.

Albanian is the official language in Albania. There are three main religions in the country, Islam, Christianity and Eastern Orthodox. All three religions get along together, unlike they do in other countries in the Balkans. Sometimes, members of the same family share different religious beliefs.
