I have always been enthralled with home decorating. I really love to design things, although I am not sure that I really have a flare for it. I mean I like what I design, for myself and my own home, but sometimes when I watch design shows and stuff, they use colors that I would never in a million years dare to use.

I was watching a design show one day and they decorated a living room in hot fuchsia and teal and I thought it looked really great in the end, but my tastes are not really quite that daring. Also, on some level I think that everything should match and be balanced.

My mother took a leap of faith in her new bedroom and did it in multiple shades of green and it looked gorgeous. They were kind of greens that you would not normally think matched but the room looks so together. I on the other hand, would have needed to make sure that the greens matched.

Now, I am in the process of doing a little bit of remodeling around my home and I don't have much to spend, but I think I am ready to try something a little more out there than my norm. I have decided that I am going to redo my son's bedroom, which quite honestly is the smallest room in the house. I know that since he is a guy he can probably survive in a small space, but I really want it to be cool especially since he will be turning 13 in a few months. I know that he just had a few friends over this past week, and that they were under impressed with his room, probably because it is not really decorated well, and it needs to be cool looking. I think it is time to expand my search outside the box and try to come up with something that will not only make the space look larger but will be the awe of all the teenagers he is going to bring in and out of that room over the coming years. Since it is such a small space, I know that I could do it for a very reasonable price, I just need a way to make the space look bigger. I am sure with a little research and consulting, my son and I can make it the perfect hangout.
