What is fishladder?
Fishladder is Grand Valley’s student-run literary journal. It is annually published and contains the work of students in fiction, nonfiction, drama, poetry, photography and art.
Submission is encouraged by students of all majors, and works are chosen for publication by groups of students who specialize in that certain genre.
How do I submit?
Students are allowed to submit multiple times in multiple genres, but are limited to 5 poems, 3 stories, 3 nonfiction pieces, 3 drama pieces, and 3 photographs per deadline.
Please submit all work via email to that genre's email (listed in upper righthand corner).
Photography Submission Information: Each photography submission must be a minimum of 300 dpi or 7x10 inches and can be submitted in color or black and white. Along with each image please include:
- a title
- a brief description of the image
- your contact information
Document Submission Information: All works must be in a Word document and legible font, as free of error as possible. Stories, essays and plays are limited to 20 pages each. Do not write your name on your submission, but rather, in the content of the email, include
- your name
- title of work
- G number
- email address
- phone number
What are the deadlines?
Each year, there is a series of rolling deadlines, generally 2-3 per semester. These will be announced as necessary.
