My name is Sunday Matousek, and growing up in Middleville, Michigan (also known as "Middle-of-nowhere-ville"), there wasn't much to do but dream of the future. This involved dreaming of different careers and different cities, and of course writing it all down on sheet after sheet of paper. As I grew older, I began to compile my dream-storming process into one great big one. And it all lead to the written word.

Since I was young, spelling and grammar came easy to me which allowed a passion for the English language, and the workings of it, to grow. My innocent fascination quickly became a fervent preoccupation starting in middle school illustrated by the little red markings I made to revise notes given to me by my friends. Come high school, I fortunately found plenty of outlets for my English and writing obsessions. These consisted of English and writing classes as electives, working on the high school newspaper staff as a feature editor, helping friends with essay revisions, and reading fully edited works recreationally.

Attending college at Grand Valley State University has given me everything I could hope for in the avenue of success in the Professional and Technical Writing world. The class and instructor variety makes it easy for me to develop my growing passion. I've learned the importance of communication, rhetoric and design principles. As Editor-in-Chief of the Professional Writing Gallery (vinette) here at GVSU, I have implemented my leadership and organizational skills to help it succeed. On top of all this, I have found another outlet for my love of grammar here at GVSU, and that is Latin. Not only is it amazing for me to learn the derivation of English words, but also to study all aspects of English grammar in relation to a different language. The knowledge I gain every day in class allows me to actualize my passion in and out of the classroom.
