What's New in 2007
This upcoming year brings many new, exciting changes to the Harry Potter Club. It will be a great opportunity for new members to become acquainted with other club members that will almost be on equal footing as they try to adjust to the new changes. The most notable change is the fact that the Harry Potter Club has joined many other organizations on Grand Valley's campus and has finally made itself a constitution. This constitution has a general list of rules that will help make the club run more smoothly. It also has the information on how to become an officer in future years to come, or perhaps even how to remove an officer from their position should you not agree with certain things that the officer does. Most importantly, this constitution was written by any members of the 2006-2007 school year who frequently attended club meetings. This constitution also has information on how to create amendments to it should you have better ideas to add to the club's set of rules. If you think that knowing this information might interest you, please come to one of the upcoming meetings. It is really the best way to get involved and to know the members of the club!
Other new things with the Harry Potter Club this year consist of:
Heads of Houses (To find out who your Head of House is, visit the forum. If you aren't sorted yet because you are an incoming freshman, please come to Thursday's meeting!)
Visual point counters to help keep club members aware of which house is ahead!
A revamped sorting quiz designed by all members of the 2006-2007 Harry Potter Club
A night to get to know the "new members" of the club this upcoming Thursday (September 6)
A newly elected group of officers that are the first to adhere by the new constitution.
The addition of a club crest for the first time ever (however, we are still deciding on this. If you are an art student or have great ideas on what the crest could be, don't hesitate to put your ideas on the forum or speak up about it in a club meeting! HOUSE POINTS WILL BE AWARDED!)
More opportunities to earn house points and more competition between the houses this year!
Individual discussion boards meant for private discussion in each house. These discussion boards are, obviously, located on the forum and they are password locked. See your Head of House for the password to read whatever your house is currently discussing!
A newly designed Yule Ball that still has the "old school" flavor to it
Hopefully lots of incoming freshman who have a great love for the wonderful world of Harry Potter!
If any of these things, plus what's available to you on the Campus Life Night Flyer, sound intriguing, please at least come to one of our meetings. As we keep mentioning on this website, we love new members and won't hesitate for the chance to get to know you if you show up!
