a little bit about myself...

Well, as of now I am a 20 year old male attending GVSU. I really don't know what exactly i want to major in, but as of now I'm assuming I will achieve some sort of business major. My current interests are rather rediculous in my eyes, those being music, movies and computers. I guess I could throw living in there too, but no need to be broad.

I can't really say I really like any set music genre, but I guess you could say I am a Rock'N'Roll guy a heart. My first true music love was punk rock, pop-punk to be more specific. At some point I starting listening to techno, trance to be more specific. Eventually I dabbled in Euro-House and recently I've started listening to chill-out smoothness of trip-hop. I also profess myself to be somewhat of a metal fan, although I'm one of those pretentious kids who considers Zeppelin to be the godfathers of metal and stuff that strays too heavy (read: retarded screaming over terrible sounding guitars) is not exactly my game. The music scene I would say that is most interesting to me is the post-DC hardcore scene. Most of the music is still somewhat underground, and combines a wide range of music styles with these artist's hardcore roots. The best example I can think of is the band The Dismemberment Plan. Pure gold, these guys own all over 90% of all rock music. My favorite band as of now is The Smashing Pumpkins. They wrote many songs of many differents styles, but my favorite example is their use of classic-rock guitar riffs followed by a classic-rock guitar solo. This writing style is used a lot on my favorite release of theirs, Siamese Dream. Many instrumental parts were overdubbed on every song, some beyond 40 tracks of just guitars, makign for a loud yet soothing atmosphere with seemingly endless layers of sound.

Anyways, onto movies. Right now I am going through an Asian Cinema stage in my motion picture life. Hong Kong noirs (grim police tales) and kung-fu action flicks dominate my list of favorites, although a few Korean dramas have also may it far up my list. I'm a big Star Wars fan and sci-fi fan in general, which made for some interesting trips to the movie theater (read: watched terrible movies). I would probably have to say The Matrix is my favorite movie, or at least one of them. I have seen it a god-awful amount of times and can honestly say the original bullet-time scenes still give me chills.

Computers are a big hobby of mine as well. Using PC's has always been kind of a natural thing for me and my life has progressed with that fact. I often spend time just reading up on what is coming out in the world of computer hardware, reading reviews and finding out how improve my own computer. I built my own computer a few years ago and have been upgrading it ever since. Right now I'm running an AthlonXP 1700+ (actual speed 1.47 GHz, with a 266 MHz bus) which is as of now overclocked (running faster than original specifications) to 1.66 GHz (still on a 266 MHz bus), which would be equal to a AthlonXP 2000+. Once I get my new motherboard put into my system, I should be able to overclock my Athlon to at least 2.0 GHz (at a 400 MHz bus) which would be equivilant to about an AthlonXP 2600-2700+. Anyways, thats a little bit about myself.
