When Photoreceptors Revolt

It was a bright, sunny day. Kakarus were singing, ursadons were rolling in the grass, and the Terrans continued to wage their bloody, messy, violence-filled war against the Zerg.

The local outpost's allotment of SCVs were happily mining away, destroying yet another patch of the beautiful sky-blue crystals that nature lovers complained about at least five times a day...

See those? They used to be blue trees.

...when everything suddenly turned colorless.

Instantaneous color loss method, copyright me.

Larry the SCV felt that something was wrong. Being the not-so-bright type, he immediately screamed, "The sky is falling!" Steve the Marine whacked him up the side of the head and thought to himself, "Ha ha, no more sky-blue minerals for stupid tree-huggers!"

Suddenly, the SCVs, who were still working for fear of being whipped by Master Fred, heard an ominous noise that seemed to come from all around them:

By the way, the new copyright sign is a large chicken yelling, 'Copyright!'

Steve the Marine's magic-super-duper translator translated the Zerg-speak into the semi-sentences "Ha ha ha, foolish cheese-whiz! Now you shall wiggle to and fro like so many porcupines in the breeze!" Steve made a note to get his translator checked and radioed in the current predicament to central HQ.

HQ saw only one way to deal with this threat. The commanding officer issued the order to raise the secret cover on a nearby island. The cover was big, and it took a while, but eventually it came off and revealed the island's true purpose:

See that? That actually happened in a game.

Yes, it was the famed Goliath Island. It was decided that the insieged base and the soon-to-be-accompanying Goliath force should be moved in order to confuse the enemy.

An observer did it.

But, there were only five dropships available (the rest of the pilots had recently been killed after all the gum-smacking had gotten to be too much for a certain Firebat).

It took a long time to move them all.

Larry the SCV, having recovered from his whacking, noticed that there were a heck of a lot of minerals and geysers lying around the area. He scanned them:

And I really needed that expansion, too.

He did a double-take:

I had 49,750 less gas than this.

Yes, they had been transported to the area of Big Game Hunters! Larry, even with his brain being made of mostly fluff, knew that there was only one thing to do in a case like this. He scooted over to Steve the Marine and told him his plan. Steve smacked him, then shouted out, "Hey, new battle plan! Build up some armories, a sci facility and about 6 starports! We're going..." he paused for emphasis, "MASS BATTLECRUISERS!! You can thank me for coming up with the idea later".

Soon, the Terran base looked much more ominous:

And I was getting attacked.

After quickly amassing 24 Battlecruisers, the orders were sent to move out. The cruisers quickly happened upon the enemy base (Steve felt a need to whack whoever had stuck their new base so close to the Zerg), and were met with a sizable defense.

Luckily, it was a 2v2, and my partner had Super-Wraiths®.

The cruisers paid it no heed.

And we won, 'cause Guardians own super-turtles®.

No heed, that is, until the foolish Hydralisk managed to hit Commodore Joe's radio antenna. Joe liked his smooth blend of salsa and hard rock played in half-hour blocks and the lack of Lars Zombie really, really angered him.

Hydras have a lot of guts in them.

Apparently the Hydralisk had been the one controlling the Terran's photoreceptors, as when it exploded in all its bloody-goodness, the world turned colorful once again.

Gaining uncontested entrance into the base, the fleet immediately saw that they had fooled the Zerg.

Get it? HAHAHAHAHAno.

"Now, if they had proper recon, they would have seen our change in strats and perhaps put up more of a fight," Joe thought. Yes, the Zerg had riddled their base with sunken colonies, obviously in preparation for the massive Goliath onslaught they felt would come at any moment.

Soon, the Zerg outpost had been leveled...

Zerg bases have even more guts than Hydras.

...and the cruisers returned home to find that a happy Larry was ready to party.

This thing is quickly becoming a mascot of mine (Editor: it never really did).
