Otaku no Anime is
GVSU's
official Japanese Animation club. This club
was founded in 1996 for the purpose of sharing and watching movies of
this
genre. We show anime every
Sunday during the fall and winter semesters,
starting at 1pm in Lake Superior Hall
Room 154, and screen some fun stuff prior to the meetings like AMVs and
other lovely, nerdy videos at 12:30ish. We also hold special weeknight
showings from time to time.
The club name, "Otaku no Anime", means Otaku's Anime or Anime of the
Otaku. The word "otaku" itself is used in Japan to describe someone
obsessive with anything in
particular, like trains, music, model kits, etc. However otaku is used
especially outside Japan to describe anime fans. The name is derived
from
a famous anime: Otaku
no
Video, the quintessential anime describing what anime is itself!
