About Me |
I am a Senior, enrolled at Grand Valley State University seeking a bachelor's degree of Computer Science. My goal is to become a video game designer or a level designer for a game developing company upon completing this degree. However, I have taken up quite an interest in computer technology throughout this degree, and am open to any type of computer/technology related career. I have also taken up a great interest in web page design while a student at GVSU. I consider myself to be somewhat of a perfectionist. I try my hardest, put confidence in, and care about the work I do. I take pride in the work I do. I also consider myself to be a person whom likes to be a "jack of all trades." I try to think about many topics, and learn about many different fields as much as I can. However I focus on Computer Science and Technology. I am confident that I will succeed with anything I try to do, or apply myself to. |

About My Skills |
I have a lot of experience in a vast array of areas in Computers/Programming/Programs and Applications. I am fully capable of using the above chart of Programs/Programming Languages. My skill level in each varies. I am still learning a lot about all of them, and will continue to do so, even if they are not needed in my profession. I enjoy using these applications, programming languages, and scripting languages. I enjoy learning about them. For programming, I have the most experience in programming using the C/C++ and Java languages from working with them for over four years in college. I have worked with Java for about four or five years now, I have a well in depth knowledge of how Java works, and the class structure of the Java language. I have worked with C/C++ for about the same amount of time as Java. I am fairly skilled in using and utilizing these languages. My preference of programming languages is C/C++. I believe C and C++ both have a lot more features implemented that allow you to do a lot more things than you can with Java, and other languages, such as the ability to write data to exact memory locations, which to my knowledge, cannot be done using Java (C and C ++ both have more features than this that make them superior to Java). I do give Java credit for it's ease of use, and versatility amongst platforms (Windows, Linux, OS X Environments). I favor these three languages versus other languages, but am open to utilizing and software engineering using other languages, such as Pascal, COBOL, or Visual Basic. For the web design, Flash, General, Sounds, and Graphics programs listed, I consider myself beyond the novice stages as far as using these programs/tools. However, I do not do this on a daily basis, but would enjoy a career or job in using these. My preference in Web Design tools would most definitely be the Macromedia Sweet Collection (Dreamweaver, Flash MX). I do Like the features and ease of use of Swish over Flash MX, but do use both of these Flash utilities. It is my belief also that Dreamweaver writes and creates code that works across platforms and html applications better. For the general category, I believe the Microsoft Office Applications win hands down for all the features and professionalism of the Applications featured in the Office Sweet. The office applications that come with Linux are very nice as well. Regardless of my likes and dislikes, I'm open to using whatever software is available to me at my place of employment. |
