Annual Membership Drive Informational Meeting | ![]() |

Why Have a Membership Drive? The American Marketing Association wants to make a strong pitch this year to attract new membership. Rather than using the same slogans (lots of networking, little time committment) we want to put together a formal marketing campaign. The days of a few members going classroom to classroom with shotty powerpoint presentations are over. We want to gather all of the marketing students in one room and develop a formal marketing plan to attract new members. As marketing majors, each of us maintain a zest for new business development. This thirst needs to be put into practice. As it stands, our methods of attracting new members mimic the Finance Club. We stand in front of introductory marketing classes with the same ten slide powerpoint presentations and shotty handouts. We use scare tactics to entice our fellow classmates into joining, implying they'll never be able to get a job AMA on their resume. Are we girl scouts or marketers? Girl scouts shove cookies down your throat. Marketers create business development through research, strategic planning, promotion, and through being opportunistic in the proper place. The membership drive is a premier opportunity to showcase skills. As it stands, AMA is little more than a club. Let's differentiate ourselves by showing Grand Valley our prowess for marketing. Let's create a buzz with a targeted blitz. We'ill capture the market, impress our collegues and perform a task with some value to our future careers. |
