My View of Web 2.0
Web 2.0 is an amazing way to get information fast, and not just any
information but reliable information. I believe any teacher that can
use any Web 2.0 sites within their classroom is greatly benefited.
They are showing students new places to get information, more places to
interact with others, and just an overall benefit of the internet.
Personally I have used google earth many times just for fun. My
brother is actually a major technology person and he finds out all the
new gadgets and sends me new links to new things all the time, so to be
able to do that for students in a quick easy way I think is a great
idea. Also going into teaching myself, and hoping to get a job as a
Geology/Earth Science teacher I can really benefit from Google Earth,
just by being able to take tours of a quarry or a volcano from the
classroom would be an amazing gift to students who can't visit those
places. Secondly I can see how photo sharing could come in handy for
my subject due to the fact that most geology and earth science is being
able to recognize things based on what you know and how it looks.
Therefore i could easily post pictures of certain rocks, or rock
features and students can access these quickly and easily. Web 2.0 is
a quick easy way for students and teachers to communicate and learn
from one another even away from the classroom.
