Meglitinide
Meglitinides stimulate insulin secretion from the beta
cells of the pancreas. The process is similar to sulfonylureas, but this
form of drugs bind to a different binding site of the beta cell. This drug
also has a shorter onset, but also a shorter half life, meaning that the
use of this drug is much different. This drug is more effective at decreasing
postprandial glucose levels and there is lower risk of hypoglycemia.
