Citizen Kane
Lost in 1941 to "How Green is my Valley".
This movie is generaly thought of as the greatest movie of all time, and
I agree. Orson Welles wrote, directed, and stared in this movie.
Kane lost the oscar because of its political nature, and because it was
loosely based on the life of William Randolph Herst, who controlled everything
at the time.

JFK
Lost in 1991 to the deserving "Silence of
the Lambs". Once again this movie was thought of as to political
for the acadamy. Director Oliver Stone has the tendency to bend the
truth on some of his historical movies, but he does speak alot of the truth.
Because of this movie I became a Kennedy assassination nerd.

LA Confidential
Lost in 1997 to "Titanic". What a
joke. This movie was by far the best of the year. Amazing preformances
by the all-star cast including Kevin Spacey, Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce,
and Kim Basinger (who won the best supporting actress oscar).

Star Wars
Lost in 1977 to Woody Allen's "Annie Hall".
Maybe I am thought it should win because I grew up on this movie as a kid,
and it is one of my favorites of all time. "Star Wars" changed alot
of people's lives and it is still in the top 5 for all time box office
sales. A must see for anyone...young or old.

Traffic
Lost in 2000 to the overrated "Gladitor".
With oscars going to Steven Soderbergh for best director, and one of my
favorite actors Benicio Del Toro for best supporting actor, and best addapted
screenplay, it was a shoe in for best picture. "Gladitor" was good,
but not "Traffic" good.
