Best Times to Visit Geneva

Spring
Spring in Geneva
Geneva's Spring is one of the most beautiful things to see. Between March and May, it's mild and bright in Geneva. The nights are still cold, but the days get warmer and warmer. The snow is melting, not on the mountains but in the town. All kinds of plants start do bloom again. In my opinion, spring is the best time for skiing in Geneva. The sunshine level is much higher than in the winter and it is not as cold as in the winter.Less freezing more fun.

What else is exciting about spring in Geneva?
International Geneva Motor Show

Location: Palexpo Exhibition Center
Dates: 3-13 March 2016
The Geneva Motor Show is the largest international show in Europe and probably the most important motor show in the world.
Many new prototypes and innovations are unveiled during the week. Classic favorites from almost every manufacturer in the world are also on display throughout the huge showroom.

Geneva Marathon

Location: In Geneva city center.
Marathon is prestigious sporting event being held in Geneva every spring. Top runners from all over the world run side by side with local sports enthusiasts. But everyone who takes place is a winner.
Summer
Summer in Geneva

Geneva's Summer proofs that you don't need to travel to the ocean to experience a great summer vacation. Between June and September you can enjoy an ideal level of heat in Geneva. The average temperature during summer is approximately 24°C. It cools off at night which can be pleasantly refreshing. What I love about Genevas summer is that the lake is warm enough for swimming. And you would be surprised how clean the water is.

More reasons to visit Geneva during summer:
Les Fêtes de Genève
Dates: 30 July -09 August 2016
Les Fêtes de Genève is the highlight of the summer and draws over 2 million visitors annually. For ten days the party boogies on along the shores of Lake Geneva with carnival rides, concerts, food stalls, variety shows and parades. The evenings are capped off with a fireworks show sponsored by a different firework company each night.

FallFall in GenevaGeneva's Fall. In October and November it cools down quickly. Conditions are very changeable. What I love about Geneva's fall, it doesn't rain a lot. First snow can be in November so get prepared to build a snowman.  Bains de Pâquis
Switzerland is famous for it's cheese. There are various ways to eat cheese. my favorite one is cheese fondue. And the best place to eat cheese fondue is bains de Pâquis. It's a restaurant right at the lake. You can watch the lights reflect in the water when it gets dark ouside and you also have an amazing view.

WinterIf you like wintersports or you want to learn how to ski, etc. visit Geneva during December and February. Geneva's Winter is rather chilly and what makes it feel even colder are the north and northeast winds that prevail in winter and blow down the mountains.
Up on the mountains snow settles for the entire season, so if you are a sports fan, take advantage of the several opportunities to ski, snowboard, etc.

Christmas Festival
Dates: November - December through January
Christmas is a special time when Geneva goes all out to bring some good old fashioned Christmas cheer to the city. Lights all over the city make everyone feel more comfortable during the cold winter days. The International Christmas Market at Fusterie Square features hand made folk arts and crafts from throughout Switzerland as well as numerous food stalls, all housed in quaint miniature wooden chalets.

In my opinion, most exciting is the annual Christmas Swimming Cup. The mid-December event draws over 600 swimmers who brave the icy waters to race from the Jardin Anglais to the Quai General Guisan. My swiss friends participate in it every year and I want to do it once in my life, too.
