Each pet has joined our family under different circumstances. We will start with Peggy Sue De Leeuw. She has been a part of our family the longest thus far. Peggy used to be my Grandpa De Leeuw’s dog. The De Leeuw family got Peggy for Grandpa because Grandma De Leeuw went to Heaven. Fine parents bred Peggy and so she cost A LOT of money. The De Leeuw son, though, wanted Peggy for his own and Grandpa gladly sold Peggy for a whopping sum of one dollar. I can’t even remember how long ago that was.
I brought home gummy worms one day from Bulk Foods. They were so good and fresh. I left them on the back hall bench, near Peggy’s cage. I forgot about them as I went off to play. The next morning, while several of us were talking on the parent’s bed, we heard a most peculiar sound. Upon looking over the side of the bed, we saw that Peggy had very considerately thrown up all those wonderful gummy worms on mom’s beautiful white carpet. (Well, it wasn’t white anymore; it was a mixture of colors- mostly red.) Saying this, you are probably surprised Peggy is still with us, so am I.
Peggy is included in the picture. (She is the on the left.)
