This is my tribute to the best college team ever. My dad graduated from the University of Michigan and because of that, I have been bred a Wolverine fanatic for the past 19 years. Now my brother has followed in my dad's footsteps and is currently a junior at the University. My love for the Wolverines has continued to grow over the years and today I consider myself a die hard fan of the Maize and Blue.
For those who don't know the lyrics to the greatest song in the world, well here they are:
Hail! to the victors valiant
Hail! to the conqu'ring heroes
Hail! Hail! to Michigan
the leaders and best
Hail! to the victors valiant
Hail! to the conqu'ring heroes
Hail! Hail! to Michigan,
the champions of the West!
Michigan Football
Here is Michigan Stadium, or "The
Big House" as we fans know it as. Currently this stadium, capacity
wise, is the largest stadium on the planet. Currently, the stadium's
capacity is listed at 107,501. However, the Stadium has seen crowds
in access of 110,000. In short, this stadium can house more than
twice the population of my hometown. WOW!
Now I would like to pay tribute to two of the best players in Michigan Football History
Desmond Howard and Charles Woodson
went down as two of the best ever in Michigan Football
history. Desmond Howard (1989-1991)
set or tied 12 Michigan single season records and earned
himself a well deserved Heisman
trophy at the end of his career before he went on to the NFL.
Charles Woodson (1995-1997) was
known for his skills on both sides of the ball. Mainly recognized
for his defensive skills, Woodson
earned himself a Heisman Trophy and also helped Michigan in 1997
to win their first National Title
in over 30 years.
Basketball
Over recent years, Michigan Basketball
has lost the magic it has had in previous years. However, I
would like to pay tribute to the
one of the golden ages of Michigan Basketball that I remember best:
THE FAB FIVE
Chris Webber
Juwan Howard
Jalen Rose
Jimmy King
Ray Jackson
Michigan was virtually unstoppable
during these years. Appearing in consecutive NCAA tournaments,
final four games, and eventually
making it to the NCAA tournament finals. With all the accomplishments
this group made, they failed to
capture a NCAA championship for the school.
This concludes my Tribute to the
University of Michigan and the highlights of their long and proud
history. It's Great to be
a Michigan Wolverine.
