My
name is Jackie and I am a HTM student at
Grand Valley State University. I would like to talk about how Summer Camp Music Festival changed my life. Summer Camp Music Festival is a
festival located at Three Sisters Park in
Chillicothe,
Illinois. It is a three day camping music festival that
takes place over Memorial Day weekend. It has been going on for 17
years and every year it keeps getting bigger and better. Umphrey's McGee and moe. are two bands
that headline this festival every year but
some large names that have performed there previously years include
Bassnectar, Pretty Lights, The Roots, Widespread Panic and many more.
It is very diverse and each year they have acts that include small
local bands, bluegrass bands, jam bands, as well as electronic DJs. The
festival is also very art oriented. Not only do they have a live art
gallery where you can go and check out live painters throughout the
weekend, they also have a large variety of venders that sell handmade
jewlery, clothes, and all other different types of art forms all
weekend long. This festival is family friendly and has activities like
carnival rides, kick ball, and treasures hunts. There are also live
workshops through out the day that you can check out if you want to
keep your brain flowing and learn something new. A couple of these
activities include yoga, hula hooping, hands on art workshops and more!
Going to this festival has taught me so much about myself and about art
and music. I have been there for 5 years and I have had such an amazing
experience each time and plan to go for many more years to come. |
