2001-2002 school year, when the ranks of Grand Valley State Renaissance
Festival swelled with the addition of new members, many of them
freshman. Click on a thumbnail to see a larger version of the

The second day of faire was
nicer. Here are some good shots. |
 |
After
putting our site back together after the storm of the night
before, faire opened on Sunday with a salute to the victims of
the September 11, 2001 attacks. |
 |
It was
a nicer day for court, too. No more hiding in the tent! |
 |
Of
course, the jail was open for business. This poor chap had
to be wenched as a punishment! |
 |
Well, we'd established a rule
that royalty and officers shouldn't be arrested.
Well...that rule sort of got violated. Megan (one of the
Princesses and an officer) got arrested and was forced to beg
forgiveness of all the men at faire. |

Who
could forget the fight lists on Sunday? Pictures here feature
the two GVRen fighting groups -- Grand Valley Royal Guard and
Grand Valley Militia -- and the Silver Leaf Royal Guard. |

 |
 |
Then
there's St. Sebastian's Archery, a group that's been
demonstrating what they do at our festival for years
now. Thanks a lot for sending us the pictures, guys (the
rest of them are up on the web community)! |

Now,
for your viewing pleasure....a series of posed shots.
1. Grand Valley Wenches with the head of the
Rogue's Guild
2. The men of the Silver Leaf Royal Guard
3. The men of Silver Leaf Royal Guard, a bit dirtier in
this shot
4. Erin #1 and DJ
5. Jason and Nick (who's wearing Jeff's (?) armor)
6. And, of course, the infamous very bad shot of the cast
(Sunday night, tired, someone didn't warn us, we haven't tracked
down a better picture yet, yadda yadda yadda...) |
