Grand Valley traveled to West Lafayette, IN this past weekend to participate in the Purdue Tournament. The Lakers first test of the weekend came Saturday afternoon against the Wisconsin Badgers. The Lakers had little difficulty putting the Badgers away in an 18-6 victory. With the victory, Grand Valley was set for the most important game of the year thus far. The evening match up found the Lakers head to head with the #1 ranked University of Michigan. The Lakers held their own as they battled from behind, but came up one goal short as Michigan defeated Grand Valley 14-13 in the final ten seconds. The Lakers rebounded on Sunday morning as they put away Illinois 15-4. The tournament ended with Grand Valley facing the host Boilermakers. The Lakers found themselves in an early hole, but again battled back and held on for an 8-6 victory. The Lakers finished with respectable 3-1 tournament record. The team hopes to improve again this weekend as they travel to Oxford, OH to participate in the Kyle McGarity Invitational at Miami University.
