I love animals and especially enjoy going to the zoo.

Be Kind to Your Furry Friends...

-- Even if They Do Stick Their Tongue Out at You.

My hobbies include photography (as you can tell from the photos included), video editing, photo scrapbooking, hiking, boating, and going to the beach.  My favorite hobbie I must say is watching my children do sporting activites, etc.

I enjoy traveling to an extent but would prefer to fly than to drive long distances, but due to my husbands fear of heights/flying we usually end up driving.  I love staying at a cottage in Ludington, MI on Hamlin Lake.  We rent cottages there each year and the lake has the same name as our last name.  The name is just a coincidence and we do not own any property on the lake nor does any of our family members (Bummer, Bummer) My children did however make the front page of the local paper while we were vacationing there last year.  By chance, a photograher from the paper was taking pictures of them fishing off a dock. They were baiting their own hooks with worms, etc.  When the photographer came over and asked for the kids' names for the paper he was pleasantly pleased to find out our last name was Hamlin.  To our delight we made the front page of the local paper due to the pun on our last name. (Hamlin kids fishing on Hamlin Lake) They would've made the paper perhaps but probably not the front page!  It was fun and of course we bought lots of papers the next day for relatives.

I enjoy being busy every since I can remember.  For instance in Junior High and High School I was involved in Basketball, Cheerleading (a couple years),  Softball, Volleyball, Track (for one year), and also a Matmaid (which was a scorekeeper and announcer for the boys' wrestling team).  My Junior and Senior year I was also employed at the school as a janitor, which meant after my practices and/or games I would clean restrooms, etc, before going home for the evening.  During my college years in my 20's I usually worked two or three jobs and at one point I had five jobs for a while!  On top of the jobs I was a Full-time student.

Since adding children to my life it has become amazingly busy.  I personally have slowed down in regards to activities but being a mom is busier than any job or activity I have ever been involved in.  I have thoroughly enjoyed being a Foster Mom which is part of the reason for deciding to become a teacher.  What an impact can be made on children and teaching would allow contact with lots more children.  Plus as a teacher I can be available more for my children and other foster children due to being off in the summers, spring break, and christmas break.
