Society of generations
past has set upon us today a world that has been programmed to
think and function not individually and independently, but rather
as a culture under a scathing standard. Principles have
been skewed and insight becomes flat and distant from prismatic
interpretation, while our everyday thoughts become dry and mundane
with the daily concern of falling from the circle that this civilization
has dubbed orthodox. The insecure persecute while the open-minded
are persecuted. Freedom of expression crumbles to the feet
of acceptance. Circumstance becomes typical and reactions
are narrowly arranged. Rules are made to provoke fear of
consequence - but this does not make them moral or just.
Think outside the proverbial box of society. Be someone
because you can, not because you have to. Do not fall victim
to a culture that has blindly been programmed numb.

Harris

BS Biography During the summer of 1998, three stout young lads from Grand Rapids, MI came together to form The Ambience, a rock trio that would better humankind and spark world peace. Two months and one show later, the trio broke up. But the following year held promise for two members, who sought to complete the montage of music that is now known as Broken Sunday. In mid-1999 guitarist
Awstyn Poel and drummer Brad
Harris once again found themselves in a quasi-band together,
desperately in search of a bassist who could also take care of
secondary vocals and harmonies. Luckily, Brad's best friend,
Steffan Copenhaver, happened to be disgustingly
musically inclined. Steff joined the band, and the rock
trio was seemingly complete. During this time, vocal spotlights
were traded between Awstyn and Steffan. |
They gigged under the guise of an uncertain 5th Precept for nearly a year. Upon recording their first CD demo, they realized the deep hatred they all secretly shared for the band name. After considering a few different options, it was soon changed indefinitely to Broken Sunday. Since then, the band
has undergone many musical maturations, as well as a line-up
change in the summer of 2001 when adding Joe
Cisler as the permanent singer and the most recent addition
of Sean Copenhaver on guitar in 2002. |

Broken Sunday have developed their own defined sound and style and continue to mature over time. The band's debut album, Programmed Numb, will be released to the public in November of 2002. While the members of Broken Sunday take pride in their musical products and love to perform, it is actually the friendship within the band that is the key factor to their unity. |
