As a proud
graduate of Lakeshore High School, I must say I have never had the opportunity
to experience block scheduling for myself. I can only go on what
other people say about it. There seem to be many issues, both negative
and positive to consider. I believe that more schools should try
block scheduling. Yes, there are some details to be worked out, but
in the long run I think it would be more benficial to students. I
remember back to my high school days in Physics and Chemistry labs, we
would always be pushed for time. In block scheduling students have
more time to think and reflect on the information, and the teacher has
more time to present the information instead of cramming it into a 50 minute
time frame. My reason for agreeing with block scheduling is because,
there were many classes that i wished i could of had more time in.
Whether it was to learn more or just to ask the instructor some questions
about my homework. I did not find any test scores to back up my opinion,
but I believe block scheduling to be a positive way and possibly a more
effective way to conduct schooling.
