Rurouni
Kenshin tells the story of a wanderer named Kenshin, who used to be called
Hitokiri Battousai during the Japanese civil war. His tale is about
redemption of his past and all his murders by helping those in trouble with his
reverse-blade sword, the sakabato. With using his powerful technique called
Hiten-Mitsurugi Ryu to battle oppressors of freedom and justice, he struggles
with himself and his own murderous side. During the series, Kenshin joins others in his quest: Kaoru Kamiya; Sanosuke
Sagara; Yahiko Myojin; and Megumi Takani, just to name a few. Together they all fight those who
oppress the weak while they seek their destiny as well happiness and
redemption.
Rurouni Kenshin is a
manga series by Nobuhiro Watsuki. It is known in Japan
as るろうに剣心 明治剣客浪漫譚, Rurōni Kenshin Meiji Kenkaku Romanta and Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story in America.
The story arc covers a plethora of events surrounding real historical
occurrences in Japan.
