Welcome! Thank you for visiting my website.  I have created this site to showcase my accomplishments in my teaching experience.

About Me

  • I am a December ’07 graduate of Grand Valley State University.
  • I grew up in Brighton, Michigan and currently am a resident of Grand Rapids.
  • I love children, the outdoors and animals and have combined these loves by working at the John Ball Zoo in Grand Rapids.  It has been quite an amazing experience and has really opened my eyes to the needs of caring for the environment.
  • Some of my outside interests include kayaking, skiing and reading.

Some of my Teaching Views All students have the ability to learn and it is my job as a teacher to make sure that all students in my classroom are having an enriching experience in each lesson.  My lessons are able to reach all learners using differentiated instruction and the multiple intelligences.

I believe that students learn best in a comfortable environment and I can create this environment by developing positive relationships with my students and creating a community of learners in the classroom.  The physical space also contributes to the comfortable environment and therefore I keep the classroom very organized and uncluttered.

The quote from W.B. Yeats at the top of my website sums up how I want my students to feel in the classroom.  I want them to feel that school is a place for discovery and interaction.  I limit my teacher talk time in the classroom and incorporate a lot of cooperative learning.  I relate my lessons to student’s everyday lives to keep them interested and excited.
