*BEST BUDDIES is a non-profit international organization which pairs up college students with people in the community
for one-on-one friendships.  I have been involved with Best Buddies for 3 years.  For 2 years I was Co-College Buddy Director (co-chair) of Grand Valley's sector of Best Buddies.
*SOSAD is a non-profit organized based out of Detroit, Michigan that serves the community through support groups for adults and children that have lost loved ones due to violent means.  I volunteered there on Monday nights for the children's support group over the summer of 2001.
*VOLUNTEER!GVSU is Grand Valley's Volunteer program.  It houses several different social issues.  Through V!GVSU I have been involved in campus clean up, empathy training, Alternative Weekends and other various volunteer activities.
*ASB is an opportunity for students to spend their spring break learning about and volunteering with different social issues around the United States.  I have been involved with ASB for 3 years and 2 of the 3 years I have been a Site Leader.  I have worked with the following social issues:  Heath and AIDS, Disabilities and Youth.
*Make-A-Wish is a non-profit foundation in which they grant wishes to kids, ages 2.5 through 18, who have a terminal illness.  This is an organization I have currently gotten involved with for a class.
(Best Buddies and Make-A-Wish are both active links.  Click on them to find out more!)
