In this incarnation, Caitlin Anne Malefant, the only daughter of Andrew Malefant and the late Judean Sedai, carries the heavy burden of the Fatespinner's Curse of Krynn. She awoke alone and confused on the edge of the Emporium in Juxta, not knowing who she was or what her powers were. As memories return to her, she has come to better understand the Fatespinner's Curse, slowly but surely, and has begun to come to terms with the changes that it has begun to create in her. She currently works as a scribe in Ford Keep, Greyhawk, and occassionally finds herself creating the odd magic item here and there.

Caitlin Malefant should have had a happy life, for all the trials and tribulations of her parents and their friends, but such was not to be. Caitlin came of age young, setting off on the road to adventure with her cousins and friends. Among the first of Cait's adventures was the attempted rescue of her brothers, Davil and Innis, from the clutches of the Knights of Takhisis. This mission set Caitlin and her companions down a road that none of them ever wished to walk.
During her early days of adventuring, Caitlin's mother fell victim to a mysterious illness, one no one could understand or cure. After years of suffering, Caitlin's mother passed on, but not before Caitlin herself realized that she was suffering some of the early symptoms of the illness that had claimed her. Such began a dangerous game that Caitlin played with her life and the hearts of her family. She set off on a secret quest to understand the powers she had attained -- for she was a fatespinner by now, one of the few on Krynn, like her mother before her -- and to find a way to cure the affliction that had killed Judean Sedai and could potentially claim her as well. Circumstances caused her family to believe her dead, killed by their own hands, and she never disabused them of this notion, knowing that if she reappeared alive, only to succumb to the ailement that had taken her mother would only cause her family more pain. For decades, she led a solitary life, wandering and seeking answers. That all changed the day she met a young Qualinesti nobleman who would become her companion and greatest love. Still more years passed as Caitlin wandered with the nobleman, who stood with her even as her memories faded. As the situation got worse, Caitlin realized that she was with child by her lover. Civil war was brewing among the elves, and so while he went to defend his home and house, Caitlin traveled to Palanthas, where she might be safe. While there, she gave birth to a daughter, whom she named Ajudealin, in memory of her mother. Her condition continuing to deteriorate, and her lover seemingly lost, Caitlin entrusted the safety of her infant daughter to the Master of the Tower at Palanthas and resumed her quest. Twenty years and more would pass before Caitlin saw her daughter again. For the next twenty years, Caitlin wandered, seeking answers and finding few. Finally, it seems, the gods took pity on the young woman, too strong to succumb death by the Fatespinner's Curse, and sent her away from their world, her memory all but lost. And so Caitlin found herself on Juxta, and from there on to Greyhawk, where she lives today, piecing together the fragments of her life and the tale of the Fatespinner's Curse. |
