Chapter 8 Question #2

There are many reasons for and against online learning. Online learning is great for people with busy schedules or for people who have to commute a long ways to class. It is also good for students who can achieve the same levels of learning without teacher lectures or mandatory classes. Online learning can also help students feel more comfortable with using computers. In contrast, online learning can be discouraged for many reasons. First, students have an easier opportunity to work together when they are not supposed to for certain assignments. Secondly, students who are not totally capable of doing the work themselves may find themselves doing poorly in class. In addition, online learning is sometimes difficult depending on the subject matter. Finally, it is difficult to make friends in an online class.

Pros of this semester

1. I can do homework at midnight (like I am doing now)

2. I don’t have to sit in lectures for stuff I know

3. It was fun making web sites

4. I can do the stuff at home or at campus

5. It has been pretty easy (so far)

Cons of this semester

1. Can’t really meet new people.
2. Sometimes forget about the homework
3. Don’t know people in my class

4. Less discussion between individuals
