The Oasis Guest House

When traveling and far from home it is nice to have a place that feels like a second home. The Oasis Guest House provided that need for me during the trip. The owners Damian and Catalina, husband and wife, treated me like I was extended family. Damian was especially fatherly and always there to see us off for the day and then welcome us back home at night. He had a gentle way of making sure that everything was fine. Catalina is an amazing cook. I thoroughly enjoyed every meal prepared by her. The typical breakfast that soon became a favorite was baked plantains and casamiento. Casamiento is a dish of rice and beans; the name translates to marriage.

The Oasis Guest House also employees housekeepers. These women were so kind and always had warm, friendly smiles to share. I was most impressed by the day to day operation of the Oasis as a family system, rather than a business manner. To the observer the employees and the owners appear to be family. It is clear by watching them that there is a great love and respect for one another.
