Spending Time with Kids

There is a much larger group of kids here. Actually, three groups: the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders at Fruitport Middle School discovered Ham Radio on this stage in 1992. I invited the Muskegon ARC to help with this demonstration.

We set temporary antennas on the roof. We had a VHF station, (for local FM and telephone patches - left) and an HF station, (for worldwide AM and SSB "short-wave" contacts - right) in operation. Kids came up a few at a time to talk on the radios while the hour long presentation was going on.
