Statement
Art, artifice, the artificial, surrounds us. Author Scott McCloud describes
art as anything that we do which is not directly related to our survival. If
one accepts McCloud's thesis, one recognizes that the majority of modern life
is primarily comprised of art. Politics, religion, and economics are all forms
of art- social constructs- we accept as our reality.
What makes us accept and follow these constructs? Where did they originate? What makes it so hard for us to let them go if they stop functioning for us? It is not the objective of my art to answer these complex questions, but to ask them of my audience.
