Going to the web-site http://historychannel.com/, answer the following questions and complete the following activities.  If you ever get lost, go back to http://historychannel.com/ and start again.  GOOD LUCK!!!

1.  Near the top of the page, you will see a series of links.  Click on “This Day In History.”  Enter the date “June 18th” and the sub-category (if it is something else) to “General Interest.”  Click “Go.”  What happened to Napoleon that day?

2.  Something else also happened on the date June 18th.  Go to the home page http://historychannel.com/ and click on speeches.  Scroll down until you can see “War and Diplomacy” on the left hand side of the screen.  Click “War and Diplomacy.”  If you are not already there, click the button “A-D” so that the last names A - D are on that page.  Scroll down until you see Winston Churchill’s name.  You have three choices, three different speeches.  One of those speeches was given on June 18th.  Click on each speech to find out which one was given on that date.  Once you find out which one it is, answer the following question:  What did Prime Minister Churchill say that people would say of the British Empire and its Commonwealth if it were to last for a thousand years?

3.  Using the site’s search engine, type in “White House.”  Click “Search.”  This should show White House being the first result.  Click on “White House.”  Some general information is given about the history of the White House.  Read the information, then answer the following question: Who was the first president to reside within the White House?

4.  Take the “History Quiz” located near the top of the page.  How many questions did you get right?  How many did you get wrong?

5.  Near the top of the page, click on the category “Travel.”  Once there, select the sub-category “United States” under the “Pre-planned” tours category.  This should take you to a page with a map of the United States.  You will see more options available.  Where is says “I am interested in:” click “escorted only” and where it says “region” select “USA: Midwest/East” with 2003 as the year.  After you have entered all these in, click “Go.” Several options are given.  Select “Colonial Williamsburg 2003” and write down what is happening on “Day Two.”  hint: you may cut and paste if you so wish
