By now most students enrolled for the fall of 2013
semester at GVSU have managed to get involved in some way or another,
made new friends, and settled in to their place at the university.
However, it is never too late to join new groups and open yourself up
to experiences and friendships you may not otherwise have had this
semester. I am personally involved with a few groups here at GVSU, and
on this page I would like to provide some information about them.
GVSU College Republicans is a great political group
here on campus that has a great relationship with the Kent County GOP
Office and the Michigan Republican Party. Our president is Andrew
McLean. We meet weekly at 9 p.m. on Wednesdays in Mackinac Hall in room
D-1-209. We do a lot of fun things each year including attending CPAC
in Washington, D.C during Spring Break and in remembrance of those who
died on 9/11 we put up American flags behind Kirkhof Center.
Campus Ministry @ GVSU
Looking to learn more about Jesus and His teachings?
How about connecting with some fellow Christians? Campus Ministry @
GVSU is a great place to do just that and much more! We have our weekly
service at 8 p.m. in the Cook - DeWitt Center on Sundays and is a
gauranteed great time! Come check it out! Another great oppurtunity
provided through Campus Ministries is the chance to join a Life Group,
which are small groups of 5-7 members that meet at various times
throughout the week. Mine meets at 7:30 p.m. in the Cook-DeWitt Center
on Tuesdays.
Apologetics Team
The Apologetics Team (a.k.a the A-Team) is an
oppurtunity for the philosophically interested, as well as Christian
Scripture interested, individual to gather with others like him/herself
in the pursuit of knowledge of why Christians believe what they
believe, if what they believe is true, and what - if it is true - that
means for the world.
This
group is very young and we are only going into our third week. We meet
at 9 p.m. in the Cook-DeWitt Center on Tuesdays. We currently have the
support of Campus Ministries @ GVSU. Right now we are studying
morality. Some individuals/texts that we rely on are the Holy Bible, Mere Christianity by C.S Lewis, Dr. William Lane Craig, and Dr. Ravi Zacharias.
Come join us!
