Teaching, learning and the curriculum: Teachers implement curriculum plans that include methods and strategies for applying technology to maximize student learning.

 

      A.     Facilitates technology-enhanced experiences that address content standards and student technology standards.

 

      B.     Use technology to support learner-centered strategies that address the diverse needs of students.

 

      C.     Apply technology to develop students’ higher order skills and creativity.

 

      D.    Manage student-learning activities in a technology-enhance environment.

  1. To make sure what I’m teaching falls in the standards set by our government, I will create all of my lessons with a standard and a benchmark from the Michigan standards webpage.

  1. There are many technological devices to help with learning in classrooms.  One example is Big Keys.  Big Keys is a keyboard that generally has keys in alphabetical order and the keys are large so that students can find them easier.  Also, I am familiar with screen readers.  Most text can be scanned into the computer to be read aloud for students with visual impairment.

 

  1. Activities such as concept mapping, PowerPoint, WebQuests can all be used to encourage higher level thinking.

D.  I haven’t had the opportunity to work in a technology enhanced classroom yet, so I’m not sure how I will manage student-learning activities in the classroom.  I do know  that the technology I do use in the classroom will enhance the lessons, and I won’t use technology just to use it.
