Applying Writing Guidelines to Web Pages Rhetorical Analysis of Goodwill Page |
The current CARE organization website, as it stands, could use a lot of improvement to make it more readable and appealing to the typical user. Text, Font, and Graphics The current website for the CARE organization is one of incredible simplicity and one that lacks a lot of information. Thus, a lot of text needs to be added in order to make sure the site is more informative for its target base of readers. Contacting fellow students within the organization and inquiring about their group’s information should go a long way in making the site more informative. In terms of graphics, the current site has very, very little. Adding some photos of the organization at work and some friendly graphics for titles and navigation purposes should give the site a much more friendly appeal. As for the font used, it is the very typical font. The target audience of this site would probably like to see some variety amongst font used. Currently, every page seems the same: very empty and very boring. Adding some variety to the site in terms of the font and text used could make it much more appealing. Why all of that Empty Space? As the site currently stands, it is very plain to see that the designers used a table that they filled in very poorly. The lack of text with the borders of the table has created a lot of white space that just looks very poor in terms of design. The proper alternatives for this are either to eliminate the table borders, or to use enough text and graphics to fill up the table and make the site look a lot better. This latter is the preferred method in the redesign process. Summary To conclude, the CARE organization site can use a lot of sprucing up. But, with a little bit of graphics, some pictures, and by adding some more pertinent information about the group, the site will be much more appealing and user friendly than before. |
