Germans love their food, and their beer.
"Liebe geht durch den Magen"
is a famous German phrase that literally means love comes from the
stomach. If a German Frauline (girl) is looking to impress her young Freund
(boyfriend) then it would not be uncommon to find her rushing to the
kitchen to prepare his the finest hardy German meal.
Potentially the most popular German dishes are centered around the use
of Wurst (sausage). Germans love their meat, and often will eat meat
with every meal of the day.
Germans also love their coffee
and they will only settle for the best brands. It could be hypothesized
that their most expensive appliance in the kitchen is their coffee
maker. Whether it be an espresso, cappuccino, or latte; Germans drink
coffee as loyally as their consistent work ethic.
But there is another drink that Germans are perhaps known best for. German beer.
In seemingly every German city
there is at least one brewery brewing up the soothing taste of
Germany's finest ale. Many German festivals and holidays are founded in
beer drinking tradition. The most commonly referred to holidays are
Oktoberfest in Muenchen and Karnival. These holidays are sometimes
celebrated worldwide but originated in the heart of Germany.
Guten Appetit! (Enjoy!)
