Welcome to the home of Alternative Breaks at Grand Valley State University!
Alternative Breaks is a registered student organization at Grand Valley State University. "AB" for short, the organization organizes and executes volunteer service trips that deal with a wide range of issues that vary from Affordable Housing to Youth and Wishes. Alternative Breaks is a drug and alcohol free experience and is not religiously affiliated.

There are 3 ways to experience Alternative Breaks:
Alternative Weekends
AB offers 2 to 3 Alternative Weekend trips each semester. Alternative Weekend trips cost $45.00. Participants travel to a location in Michigan for a weekend of fun and service.
The fee includes transportation, housing and food.
Alternative Spring Break
AB offers 17 Spring Break trips that travel all across the country to volunteer, make friends and have fun. Included in the program is a trip specifically for individuals in the College of Education who have spring break in April. Alternative Spring Break costs $250.00, which includes transportation, housing and food.
Alternative Winter Break
AB travels to a major U.S. city for Alternative Winter Break. Alternative Winter Break is identical to Alternative Spring Break only it takes place during the last week of Winter Break. One Winter Break trip currently exists and the cost of participation is $250.00. As always, the fee includes transportation, housing and food for the entire trip.
