History

The Grand Valley State University Men's Ice Hockey Team was formed in the mid-70's as a way to allow GVSU students to continue to play competitive Ice Hockey. The team has grown in the past 30 years into a one of the top teams in American Collegiate Hockey Association. Since 1992, the ACHA has been the central governing body for all non-varsity hockey teams in the United States, and has roughly 200 teams registered in its three divisions.

The Division 3 program is in its first season at GVSU. This team was created in order to increase the overall size and success of the program. The Division 3 program acts as a feeder program to develop young players and to bring some older players back onto the ice.

In support of the current program, former GVSU Hockey Captain and President Todd Chinderle has started the GVSU Hockey Alumni Association. We are urging all players who have ever played for the GVSU Hockey team from its creation to send their name, email, years played, contact info, and any other current information to gvsuhockeyalumni@hotmail.com so that we can create a database of all the former GVSU Hockey players.

Once you are on this list, you will be kept informed about the current happenings of the team and ways to support the team, along with any alumni reunions that occur, and other alumni events.

The Alumni Association is a great way to keep in touch with current and former players and help the support the current team as well. We hope to have as many former players sign up as possible, so get the word out to everyone you know.

If you are interested donating towards the alumni fund, please send checks made out to:
