I chose to re-build the Faculty page on Grand Valley State University’s East Asian Studies web page for project IV. The reason I chose this page was primarily because I thought that the way the text was laid out made it difficult for people to find what they were looking for. I also thought that the layout made it easy to just skim over the text without reading it. In order to fix the problem I did a couple of things:
1. I bolded the names of the faculty listed so that they would stand out and
the person looking at the page would be able to find a particular person a little
easier.
2. I also took the descriptions of the faculty and spaced them out so that the
different aspects like what they teach, where they went to school and research
interest are all separated by an extra line. I think that this makes the information
easier to find and easier to read. I also put headings on the three different
categories so that people can find what they are looking for fast
3. I also changed the links bar to make the page more accessible and wrote a
brief blurb about what could be found on the page at the top so that people
would immediately know if they were looking at the right page.
This page should be an improvement as far as readability and finding what you
are looking for. At a college that is a very important aspect because people
are always in a rush and don’t have the patience to look around.
