About Me: Planes

The first thing you should know about me is I LOVE to read. That's what got me into this whole mess. So when I graduated high school and left my hometown, I decided to major in English.

Originally, I wanted to teach high school level English, but soon I discovered where my passion really lies. Instead of teaching, I would like to work in publishing. If I could read all day every day, I would be one happy lady.

I grew up in the small town of New Boston, Michigan which is located about thirty miles south of Detroit. I grew up hearing planes, well, not really hearing them. I suppose after living next to Detroit Metropolitan Airport for so many years, I started to ignore the noise. I never really remember hearing them, but now when I go back to visit, I hear them. The loud jet engines are always positively roaring above New Boston. So this was my life.

I grew up in a beautiful house on the Huron River so I was always swimming, or fishing, or canoeing. I think the river is what I miss most about that place, except for the planes of course.

I attended Huron High School, where I graduated with honors, twelfth in my class. I've played volleyball year round since I was eleven years old. After high school, I moved to Grand Rapids to go to Grand Valley State University. After living downtown for two years, I fell in love with the city.

I'm now finishing up my last year at Grand Valley, living in Eastown, and working at Mojo's Dueling Piano Bar. These last four years have been great and I'm really hoping to find a job around here after graduation because I love it so much.
