Education
Portland High School
Portland, Michigan
I graduated in 1999 as salutatorian of my class.  I ran track and Cross Country, and I was a member of National Honor society.

Grand Valley State University
Allendale, Michigan
I began college in the fall of 1999 at Grand Valley on a Presidential Academic Scholarship and an Award of Excellence.  In addition, I received a state MEAP scholarship.  In order to keep the university scholarships, I am required to maintain at least a 3.5 GPA every semester for four years.  I have done this so far.  Only two semesters to go!

Work Experiences
Amoco
Portland, Michigan
During High School, I worked at a local gas station. I enjoyed it because I was in contact with so many people I knew each day.  Once I moved to college, I started a new job.

Geology Department
Grand Valley State University
As a freshman, I worked for one of my professors as a teacher's assistant.  I enjoyed the work, but the job ended when summer came and I moved back home.

Portland Federal Credit Union
Portland, Michigan
The summer following my freshman year in college, I became a bank teller.  It was a wonderful experience, but I hated being cooped up inside all day.  The job wasn't challenging enough, and I found myself bored. However, I stayed for the whole summer as I promised.

Hungry Howie's Pizza
Allendale, Michigan
During my sophomore and junior years at GVSU, I worked at a local pizza place.  It was a laid back atmosphere, and really a place for me to unwind from the pressures of school.  I enjoyed it and was made assistant manager.

Moyer Concrete Construction Company
Portland, Michigan
During the summer of my sophomore and junior years, I was a concrete laborer.  This has been the best job I've ever had.  I love the hard work and being outside.  The small crew that I work with has become like brothers to me.  I will work for them again in the summers to come.

Horrocks' Farm Market
Kentwood, Michigan
During my senior year, I have been working for a new Horrocks' Farm Market. Over the summer, Moyer's and I poured all of the concrete outside the new building.  The owners of Horrocks admired my hard work and my ethic and asked me to come work for them once school started again.  I have, and so far things have worked out well.
