Part A: Conceptual Analysis

The audience of the Student Reading Series web site will almost all be students or faculty of GVSU. Almost all members of this audience will be very familiar with Internet navigation because they utilize web pages for classes and use Internet databases for research. The demographics of web page viewers will be, for the most part, middle to upper-middle class, Caucasian, and above 18 years of age, based on GVSU student and faculty demographics. Most of the viewers will have a great deal of access to the Internet with the ability of most to access the Web at school, work, and home.

The objectives of my web site are to inform GVSU students and faculty about the existence and purpose of the Student Reading Series (SRS) and to offer a comprehensive source for all information regarding the reading series. A subsequent goal of the web page will be to interest students and faculty in becoming involved in the Student Reading Series through attending the readings, creating broadsides, reading at one of the events, or helping to organize SRS events.

The tasks available on the SRS web site will allow viewers to access information about the purpose of SRS, upcoming and past readings, broadsides, and contact information. The links from the main page will be: “About,” “Events,” “Broadsides,” and “Contact.” In addition, there will be an section of the main page titled “Annoucements” so that important information (such as a call for readers or organizers) will be available at first-glance.

Following are descriptions of what will be included in each link off the main page:

-ABOUT-
This page will explain the purpose of SRS, how SRS started, who has been involved in SRS in the past, and who is currently involved.

-EVENTS-
This page will give details for upcoming readings, such as location, time, and date, and will also explain how GVSU faculty and students can take part in the readings.

-BROADSIDES-
This page will explain the purpose of broadsides and will include PDF links to Student Reading Series broadsides from the past year. This page will also include information for students interested in creating broadsides for SRS.

-CONTACT-
This page will include contact information of the faculty and student organizers of SRS so that the web page users will be able to email if they would like to be involved with SRS or have questions regarding SRS or the SRS web page.
