Part B: Content Analysis

Because I have been one of the student organizers of the Student Reading Series since it began in the fall of 2004, and because I have helped to form what the Reading Series is currently, most of the “About” information presented on the web page will be taken from what I personally know about SRS. The purpose and explanation of SRS will be based on my understanding of SRS, but I will also ask for input from other SRS organizers to make sure that I am including all important information regarding the series.

The “Events” information will be, again, taken from my knowledge as the main liaison and coordinator for SRS readers. The information will not be biased, I do not believe, because the information being presented will be purposely informative, not opinion-based. In addition, I still plan to have other SRS coordinators review the event information that will be on the SRS web page to make sure the information is accurate and comprehensive.

The “Broadside” information will be taken from a few different sources. I plan to research the history of broadsides from Internet and personal sources and post broadsides from past SRS readings (as PDFs) that I will need to retrieve from the files of one of the other SRS organizers.

The contact information will be verified by the other SRS organizers, and I will ask permission from the other organizers to post their personal contact information on the web site.

Because Student Reading Series information does not really exist outside of verbal communication, as of yet, I am creating most of the written information by myself. Most of the information on the web page will start as text in a Microsoft Word Document and then be transferred to Dreamweaver where it will need to be adjusted to fit the format and style of the web page.

The exception to the text information will be found on the “Broadside” page, which will include PDF files so that users may view past broadsides. I may receive these files as InDesign documents and have to export and save them as PDFs before they are linked on the web page.
