10 minutes |
Students will break up
into groups and discuss Violet’s list of things she wants to do on pages
229-233. What are some characteristics
of Violet’s list? What is Violet
concerned with in life? How are
Violet’s goals similar to things that people on the website remembered about
their loved ones who have passed away? |
15 minutes |
We will reconvene as a
class to share the observations that the small groups made. Further discussion will consider the
relevance of the similarities. What do
the similarities we found have to say about Violet as a person? What about her self-awareness and her
global awareness? Are there certain
things that a person can leave behind them when they die? What are they? Are there certain ways that a person can
impact the world in a meaningful way?
What are they? |
20 minutes |
I will instruct the
students to read the rest of the book for class tomorrow. When they are done reading, they can start
brainstorming for their tribute assignment.
I will pass out the assignment sheet now, but the tributes are not due
until the end of class tomorrow.
Students will have time to write them in class. |

Students will receive
participation points for group and class discussion.
