Company within a Classroom
"Processes -> not -> Pathways"
I entered a competition for a scholarship towards the SAP TERP10 certification academy.
The competition involved restructuring a current course with the purpose of keeping students
engaged and enhancing their learning experience with SAP and presenting my idea to students
and faculty. Through this competition, I won a full-ride scholarship for the SAP TERP10
certification academy. Below is my plan to restructure the Introduction to Management
Information Systems course at GVSU.
Students are first introduced to business processes and SAP within this course. With my
renovation of the course, students would learn to navigate SAP and gain knowledge of SAP
Project Systems while using it to complete the existing Microsoft Access project.
In addition to a standard lecture, students would participate in a simulation of various
business processes within an interactive classroom setting. Through this simulation, students
would learn the overall course of business processes by recreating the major steps of the
given process within the classroom. Giving students the knowledge of the overall process with
the experience of navigating and working with SAP would allow for an easier transition into SAP.
The following are some images of my idea to create a more interactive learning environment for
students. An interactive environment, like the one described in the images below, would allow
students to act out the processes learned in the classroom, helping them grasp the concepts better.
The next image represents how a given process would be worked out by the students within the
classroom. The example process shown is purchasing.
