Welcome to the last page and what I consider the second most important, just behind Tips and Tricks! This is the Prompts page. Down below you'll find a bunch of prompts, grouped together by different headings such as theme, genre, tone, or character based. Feel free to pick and choose whichever ones you want and just practice. You never know, maybe one of those practice stories will turn into a real one one day!

CharacterGenreTone
  1. The protagonist has just been uprooted from their hometown and forced to move, where they are now stuck until they graduate and have their first day of school today.
  2. The protagonist has recently just been attacked and is dealing with the trauma of the incident.
  3. The protagonist is the villian.
  4. Two friends are having a conversation between classes.
  5. The protagonist is looking in the mirror and analyzing themselves.
  1. A fantastical story, whether that it is set in an actual fantasy realm or there are fantastical elements, i.e. supernatural creatures, magic, mythological influences, so on. Build a setting and characters that fit the description and write a short blurb about it.
  2. A story based around the world of crime, specifically focusing on the "criminals" as the protagonists. Your job is to make them human and give them a reason for doing what they do.
  3. A simple story based in the real world revolving around teenagers with realistic issues. Whether that is a crush or mental illness, pick a subject, stick with it, and create a compelling story revolving around one character.
  4. An epic adventure of some sort. Whether it is actual adventure across a great land or simply a character evolving, make it as epic and theatrical as possible.
  5. A love story. Make it as simple or spectacularly overblown as you want, just make it a love story and capture the feel of falling in love.
  1. Something sinister is in the air and your character can feel it. Set the tone of the scene, specifically focusing on the feelings your character is getting and describing the environment itself.
  2. It's a joyous day. You pick the reason, make it as fluffy and happy as possible and make the reader feel the joy that your characters are feeling.
  3. A tragedy has occurered and has effected the character as whole. Make the audience feel the sadness and angst.
  4. Everything is numbing.
  5. The boredom has set in and you need to make the readers feel as bored as the protagonist does.
